Me, to #sonTwo: #sonOne doesn't know what to do about #GD1, because they aren't giving a remote learning option for her school and he doesn't want her bringing #COVID-19 home to #GD2 (whose school does have a remote learning option this year).

sonTwo: He could always try home schooling.

Me, laughing: He's part of the leftish group that has always opposed such things. I expect he'll end up doing that, but it will happen at the last minute.

This is a topic I don't have the time to dive into, but homeschooling is definitely not just for the right: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Self-managed_social_center#Free_schools

There is a faction that believes mandatory on campus public schooling is the only way. There are a lot of them in California.

@lnxw48a1 @musicman I think those people's arguments is that this would take money out of the public school system, then well off people would hire tutors or send kids to private schools and poor people's kids would have worse education.

I don't think the issue is underfunding of public schools though, as much as misplaced or outright missing incentives.

@lnxw48a1 @musicman Meaning the alternatives to mandatory public schooling would take money out of the public school system
