Why are DC series so exceptionally bad at science babble?
Series like Marvel, Star Trek and others, they fake their way through by handwaving, by inventing words, etc, or at least stay internally consistent in their nonsense, but DC series like Flash and Legends tend to say real things entirely wrong and be internally inconsistent.
I like the characters and the spectacle, so I still watch them, but it's so unnecessary. They could make these things better by just removing things, by not trying at science babble at all instead of trying and being so low-effort.

Why are both Gideon and Sara pronouncing Tolkien /tol-KEEN/?

B: "Really? Now's the time for a bad guy monologue?"
*stuff happens, heroes escape*
B: "A, what did I tell you."
C: "For what it's worth, I thought it was a very good bad guy monologue."
It's so much better when they lean into it!

Turns out, this was exactly the point where the whole series turned around.
Season 1 was fine, slightly interesting, slightly annoying, season 2 was oh no, prophecy, talismans and relics stuff, but then the above happened. And from that point on it's been silly season.
The last bit of season 2 was glorious, with Damien Darkh, mass murderer and master torturer, destroyer of worlds, being at the center of the campiness. Season 3 was absolutely ridiculous with Darkh starting to crack dad jokes about Tinder and the Legends literally admitting that they screw every mission up but at the same time being damn proud of it.
I cannot tell you how ridiculous the season 3 finale was, you have to watch the whole season to really appreciate all the strands of story (and glory) that went into the Care Bear stare that was the climax.
Now I'm on season 4 and the magical monster in this episode is a fairy godmother and I LOVE IT.
I starting to think this might be the only way to do a DC TV series right.

Over time, more and more of the actors find in-universe reasons to drop their American accents. I like.

Season 5 was *absolutely ridiculous* and I loved every bit of it, even better than Season 4. They really found their format.
Several actors got the chance to play multiple characters and it was glorious.
I've been laughing. I've been grinning from ear to ear. I've been cringing, a lot. There have been heartwarming moments, a lot, and absolutely heart-wrenching moments.
There is a Season 6 and they're halfway through Season 7. YES.

- Ok, hold up, I thought this was a time machine. Why don't you bring us back an hour earlier and y'all can change out of your PJs?
- Oh, girl, we don't ask those questions.
It took five seasons but they FINALLY lampshaded this.
-
Wow, that was only three days ago? I have finished Season 6.
I have laughed uncontrollably, I have cried, and I woohooed triumphantly at the final heavily telegraphed twist that was exactly what I expected but with an additional twist to it.

This article absolutely nails what is so great about Legends of Tomorrow and I agree with basically everything.
