    Since I've been living in the US only since 2012, I've had to make up my mind about various highway restaurant chains pretty quick and without any cultural background. For example I decided I'd never go to a Waffle House because they just are everywhere. On the other hand, I'd go to a Denny's any day, and this example reinforces my pre-existing good opinion that was only based on getting sandwiches to go there once (1). It was before a 14h bus ride from Charleston, SC back to New York City, NY when there had been a solar eclipse in 2017.
