    Wasted resources. $EMPLOYER hired a young person trained in #GIS and they have him preparing Word and Excel documents. This guy is brilliant at what he is trained to do, but is also great at the tasks they gave him. I just feel like there are plenty of people who can do this work, but not so many that know GIS mapping.

      I did a quick look and while it was only one site it seems there are only about 100 jobs world wide.
      Maybe you take the job you can, not the job you want.

        @geniusmusing I don't know how often openings come up, but some assignments have had 20-50 GIS people from various federal and state agencies. I'd assume utility companies also hire them, but I have not worked with them yet.
