For the second session we used Meet, and apart for the freedom and privacy of supporting free software and not needing a Microsoft account for setting anything up, we saw the following practical advantages:
- Trivial to set your display name when you join. We all had display names in characters, which really helps atmosphere![0]
- Trivial private messaging.[1] Great for Narrator and Character to have a quick aside without having to use a breakout room.[2]
- No person is Host and needs to let others in, people can join as early as they like and just hang out until the announced start of the adventure.
- You can share screen as your background picture, so people can see both you and your desktop! Well, maybe not practical, and we didn't make use of it, but I think it could potentially be used for some cool stuff!

[0] People who joined Teams as guests could set their display names, but Microsoft accounts couldn't.
[1] Maybe private messages are possible in Teams meetings, we genuinely don't know; There is no obvious way to do it, esp. with guests. It's certainly possible at work, we use it all the time there, but with random users from different organizations? Dunno. When it works it's separated from the room; In Jitsi Meet private messaging happens in the room chat, so you have everything in one context.
[2] Teams and Meet both support breakout rooms, but we never had to try it in Meet because private chat was smoother for this particular session. If the party gets split up in the next session we'll see how well breakout rooms work. We found them a bit awkward in Teams, but they worked well enough once we got the hang of it.
