    @ocean Me yes, if it were an option I'd buy a dumb TV that won't show me ads at the same price as a smart TV if it were an option. It's not an option unfortunately, if I don't want the smart TV functions (and the ads) I'd have to pay more for commercial monitors. But I admit I am probably a minority.

      I don't have any reason to buy a TV right now, but if I did, I'd be in the same boat.

      For me, a TV's purpose is to display the channel/media/content that I select.

      If I want a device to count how many times I pass gas and tell me whether I'm in "go see a doctor" territory, I'll buy a dedicated device for that and turn it on or off as desired.

      And I have no desire to see more ads.
