    Those commercials are definitely not West Coast commercials.

    For example, a big chunk of car commercials in Los Angeles were for dealerships owned by Cal Worthington.

    They generally started with "This is Cal Worthington and his dog spot." (Him with some kind of captive wild animal: lion, tiger, etc.) Followed by his "Go See Cal" theme song, followed by him rattling off a few deals.

    We did have Orbit gum, so those commercials may have made it ... but I don't remember them, and those were some of my peak TV watching years.
