I believe the crux of the original tweet is “the law”. Whether the described situation is enjoyable or not entirely depends on how fair the law feels to you, but the situation still stands:
- no responsibility
- no freedom
- no choice except obedience to the law
- or disobedience followed by punishment

Neither of these depend on how decent parents are. The only parenting-dependent variable is “the law” which is even more arbitrary during childhood than adulthood.
