Claim is that Japan's Summer heat is worse than that of California's Death Valley. I have not been to either pace, but I have been in other parts of the Mojave Desert, and it can get quite unpleasant long before it reaches Death Valley temperatures.

Japanese summer is worse than summer in Death Valley, says our correspondent, a seasoned traveler
By Dale Roll from SoraNews24 -Japan News-
What makes Japanese summer more unbearable than the harsh heat of the desert?

Also not having been to either place but close approximates, say southern states (or Chicago in August) during hot/humid summer and Las Vegas during a hot/not humid July, I can say I would prefer dry heat. We in the PNW are looking at a week of heat starting today (93F/~34C) peaking Tuesday at 100F/~38C and then finally tapering off until next Monday when it finally gets below 90F/~32C, fortunately, the humidity will be pretty low, not Vegas dry but much more tolerable than humid locations.

@geniusmusing Oh, yes, Mississippi heat was pretty miserable.
