    Which brings up an important question:
    In the past, with HDDs, I've used #DBAN ( https://www.dban.org/ ) to pre-wipe disks and ensure that no traces of the prior OS remain, then run OS installers. Now that most systems are coming with SSDs instead, are such tools effective? Are they still recommended?

      Yes but you need to be careful with SSD's due to limited write capability. What I am waiting for is GRC to put out a free wiping program that is based in part from the latest, not yet released, version of spinrite but it might be more for spinning rust.
