Most orthodox Christians in world actually celebrated on 12/25 as most churches changed to the new Julian calandar which happens to be the same as the gregoriian most of the works uses, at least it will be for the next several thousand years. The Russian and Ukrainian churches are old calandarists. Ww only are hearing about it brecht of the war in Ukraine. #PrayForPeace we must do as Our Lady of Fatima asked and pray for the concecration of Russia to her emaculate heart. -

@fu A friend is from the Armenian branch of Orthodox Christianity, and he celebrates on January 6th. I thought it all depended on what year an area switched to the Gregorian calendar. (What day corresponded to December 25th when that area switched.) -

@LinuxWalt (@lnxw48a1) {3EB165E0-5BB1-45D2-9E7D-93B31821F864} Gregorian is named after Pope Gregory so you can see why the Eastern Orthodox would not be the ones to adopt. Russia's secular world made the switch shortly after the October Revolution, but the ROC is still on the old calendar. At this point I think it may be more likely for Constantinople to reunite with Rome than with Moscow -

@LinuxWalt (@lnxw48a1) {3EB165E0-5BB1-45D2-9E7D-93B31821F864} the new Julian calendar is a fairly recent change. There's some pretty interesting Wikipedia rabbit wholes around old calendarists if you ever feel like taking a dive.
