Where can I find an open Teredo server in 2023?

debian's miredo's config points at teredo-debian.remlab.net. This used to be an alias for teredo.remlab.net but now it doesn't resolve.

Two years ago teredo.remlab.net was taken down and then put back up as an alias for the Tampere regional Internet exchange (TREX) Teredo server[0]. Now it doesn't resolve.

TREX says[1] that teredo.trex.fi is "open to anyone". This resolves!

But then miredo says "No reply from Teredo server".

Am I going to have to bother with a real VPN setup for my laptop in my Swedish wardrobe?

I've been using "ssh in by TOR and find out the current Teredo address" as a "VPN" for the last 15 years until 2 years ago when I upgraded the old machine and it stopped being stable and started hanging.

Now I was just going to swap out the ancient 32-bit laptop for an ancient 64-bit laptop with a fresh Debian install and it would Just Work. And then I find out that in the meantime the fake IPv6 Internet has been disintegrating while I wasn't looking.

Hey. ISPs. You still haven't given us native IPv6, so get this sorted at least. Come on.

@clacke Have you looked into cjdns? It is supposed to be encrypted #IPv6. I have not used it, so this is not a recommendation.

@LinuxWalt (@lnxw48a1) {3EB165E0-5BB1-45D2-9E7D-93B31821F864} Yeah that's one of the "real VPN" solutions I'll have to look into if a simple Teredo fix won't work any more.

        Microsoft's reason for discontinuing teredo.ipv6.microsoft.com:

        > Why Sunset Teredo now?

        > Recent strides to native IPv6 connectivity deems Teredo as redundant

Personally I have seen zero of these strides. US mobile phone networks? Yes, IPv6 all the way.

Swedish and HK fiber ISPs? Zero action. Offer me a /48 on each side, I will be overjoyed, buy new equipment and never think of Teredo again. But it's not happening. We're all on IPv4 NAT like it's 1999.
