    Sometimes it can be a little ridiculous, but it really does help when someone compares to an easily visualized object. I had no idea how large a Starlink satellite is until a news item compared it to a Dodge Ram pickup truck. Saying it is "$length_measurement long" or that it is "$volume_measurement in total size / volume" doesn't always work as well.
