What I really wish is that every single email provider would also provide XMPP, so your JID is the same as your email address, with the same password. So none of this "I can't sign up for another account" excuse. And you have one address book, without it being tied to the legacy phone system.

And we almost had something close to this, but Google decided to close up their chat system, and everyone followed suit, and it didn't even benefit Google. Does anyone actually use Allo?
