    Discussion at $EMPLOYER: they're having trouble filling tech openings, so now they're trying to figure out how to allocate more money for paying people in specific workplace roles without spillover to roles that they don't wish to increase their pay scales.

    Not that it matters, as my current role isn't going to be eligible in the first place. (Someone in the Q&A asked already and was told "no way" in a nice way.)

      Also, this meeting does not give much confidence in the head of IT.

      They're talking about a substantial pay increase for a certain subset of the TechTeam without realizing that they're incentivizing other people in other sections to transfer out of their existing section. Not a wise move when they're already having trouble obtaining techpeeps. Maybe if they raised all tech pay and just raised the one section more than others ... but AFAIK that is not currently being discussed.
