I was thinking today that when I was 20, I switched my primary email from yahoo to Gmail in part because my Yahoo! account had got so full of Spam and newsletter subscriptions that I no longer cared about, I decided to abandon rather than clean my inbox. Then a decade later I switched from Gmail to my Alumni Association's provided account in-part for similar reasons. Today I happened to log into my old Gmail account looking for something specific, and realized I had fewer unread mails there than in my Alumni account, 70,000 plus vs. 75,000 plus. When I quit Facebook last year I logged into my old Yahoo! account in hopes of finding contacts from my teens that I had only spoke with on Facebook in years, and alas Yahoo! cleared everything out at some time, as I had like 10 unread mail and nothing in my contact list (though I'm uncertain If I ever kept an actual contact list back then). I was very jealous of my best friend who had been using his same email since 1997.
