I've been using Chocolatey, which is a similar idea. I've even started uninstalling programs that I had installed directly, so I can use Chocolatey to install and update them.

One of the things that I find bothersome is when you log into Windows and twelve different programs pop up notifications to update them. Hopefully, winget will help you to avoid that.
