White House chief of staff pushing to get federal employees to return to the office. https://www.axios.com/2023/11/30/biden-zients-federal-workers-return-to-office [www axios com]

In a lot of cases, workers' productivity increased once the started working remotely. Even a team at $EMPLOYER reported today that their productivity is down sharply now that they are back in the office. That's probably even more true in open floor plan offices and cibicle farms.

At last $EMPLOYER, even when I had an office, I got the most work done in the first two or so hours before everybody got in and started bothering me.

Even a Do Not Disturb sign on the now closed door (it was something to the effect of "unless the building is on fire, don't bother me"), signed by the owner, would keep people from bothering me because "It's only one question"...

There is some informed speculation that says return to office is really about indirectly propping up the banking 🏦 system … profitable loans went into building the various office buildings. If companies no longer need to rent office space, those loans will become worthless.
