    An overview of Justin Kunimune's "danseiji", "elastic Earth", world map projections, which allows the use of individual stretching of specified areas rather than one uniform formula for the whole globe.

    The most interesting to me is "Danseiji IV", a projection that is inspired by Dymaxion but looks a bit more organic.

      The projection in the link preview is the #danseijiIII , which still maintains the settled continents relatively undistorted (by distorting the oceans), but splits Antarctica. So that's mostly the advantages of a Dymaxion-like, but has something like a north and south and looks more familiar to people used to Mercator and Mollweide maps.

      It's similar to an earlier "Halstead’s Composite World interrupted" projection by Carlos Furuti that is only preserved on the Wayback Machine:
