   In the last 35 years, only once did a Republican presidential candidate recieve the majority of the vote (Bush '04) & most experts believe that's because older Democrats didn't want to vote for a new President during an active war in Iraq.

      I am old enough to remember Perot. Election night exit polls seem to indicate a plurality of Perot voters would have voted for Clinton if Perot was not on the ballot.
