Why can't you export your Mastodon messages?

Why can't you then import them to a new instance? They don't need to propagate. They should just exist there so anyone visiting an account can see the history.

Why are profiles still not portable, in this land of federated networking?

I don't want a bunch of accounts. I don't want my posts across those not-wanted accounts.

Why do we have to start over when we want to migrate?

You can't even export your media storage, but it is listed.

    So frustrating.
