I have been monitoring the peoples behavior on other social networks for a while now. There is nearly no interaction at all, besides likes. And even those have reduced over the past few years. I wonder why they call it social if it's only about self-presentation? #twitter #facebook

@marcus "Social" derives from latin "socius", meaning "taking part, being connected". Social networks are therefore being named accurately, otherwise they might be called "interactive networks".
-
@vinzv but doesn't taking part mean to interact?
-
@marcus Of course, one cannot interact. Even not acting is acting.
Maybe "communicative networks" is be a better term for what I meant.
-
@marcus Absolutely and most time they call this "conversation". But in reality there is nothing more than some hunt for highscores, being for self-confidence, some flirt with the digital self-portrait or earning money being some kind of "influencer". :-(

@marcus Those are really more about broadcasting than conversations.
