The Russian hackers are uberleet. They are in all the things. They know everything and can spend arbitrary sums of money on Facebook ads which are totally convincing. They know exactly how to exit from vim and they are already post-quantum. They have above average touch typing speed and they can solve fizzbuzz in C with gcc optimizations.

I expect a lot of the stuff about Russian hackers will turn out to be misdirection. It's more convenient to blame meddling foreigners than to face up to difficult domestic issues. Just because something appears to come from a Russian IP address that doesn't mean it originated there.

@bob I actually don't dfind it difficult to believe it was Russians.  The thing they're convinently glossing over here though is that Russian hackers are not idealistic, they're mercenary.  They're guns for hire ... so who hired them?

@bob One thing that I think both the media and the #pollies forget. No one changes their minds about a candidate based on the garbage they view on Facebook. They argue against and block people whose messages are contrary to their chosen candidates.

Blaming Russia and Facebook and Twitter instead of examining what voters were saying to the political leadership when they surprised everyone (me included) with the election results risks repeating those results in 2020.

@bob  There's a political intention in El Pais, being unionist is going to paint separatists allied with all the "evil" forces that exist.
