Anyone else on here following what Robert Murray-Smith and his company is doing with carbon batteries? They're looking to replace both lead-acid and lithium-ion cells with variants of a base carbon material which they can print onto paper. Cheap and environmentally friendly.
He's been pretty open with the principles at work, including some neat processes one can do at home (like hydrothermal carbonization). So actively encouraging more people to experiment with these things, and giving out enough information that one might go off and fiddle oneself. Neatest idea so far may be turning old tires into storage devices somewhere between supercapacitors and lead-acids
