    Cooking some brown rice. Fry onion and garlic in oil, throw in rice to toast a bit. Add water and chicken broth. Simmer 40 minutes.

      Water to rice 2:1 is usually good. I used 2 cups rice. Toasting rice in oil will help separate the grains and keep them from sticking.

        Spices should be added after cooking so they don't boil away most of their flavor.
