Why should one use Facebook or Twitter?

The only reason I came up with is "reach" from the broadcasting/marketing area and everybody is there already. But are there any other reasons?

It's very telling that "reach" is a reason for marketers and promoters. It's not a reason for normal people to use Facebook or Twitter — in fact it makes it clearer that normal people are only there to be sold to. You're volunteering to be shown ads.

Problem is: Many people do not understand decentral systems, although they all know one (mail). So they tend to use a central one.
