      @phildini Fediverse has been around for 8 years now. IRC and XMPP even longer. Dtube rebuilds Youtube via Webtorrent. So, eEverything's decentralized and already sitting there waiting for people to use it.

        @vinzv @phildini With these older systems, and some of the newer ones, the main barrier was the difficulty of running a server. If we can make installing servers easier - and I think that is getting easier over time - or move most things to P2P without servers then the decentralization problem is more solvable.

          @bob I know. But that's not what @phildini was claiming a lack of, if I got him right. The tools are there, have been for long time. If people mourn about golden cages and data silos they have to look over their plates' edges.
