    Schools were bad before standardized testing. Metrification came out of wanting systems to detect failing schools before they failed. It causes its own set of problems.

      @moonman Yes, that is true. But were the schools "failing" before the factory jobs went away? It seems to me that failure may have started when we expected job applicants to have additional training and education on top of the standard 13 years.
