      @pettter @bobjonkman I agree. However, the OWS goal as I understand it is to increase the cost of surveilling instant messaging as much as possible as fast as possible. They're pursuing this by trying to maximize the percentage of messaging traffic using their E2EE protocol. The best possible system isn't their first goal for now - ending the era of cleartext messaging is.

          @pettter @bobjonkman dunno, but they've made other changes - dropping SMS support was a good example - which pissed a lot of people off but which I suspect were the result of bang for buck calculations based on very limited resources.
