Annah (maiyannah@community.highlandarrow.com)'s status on Saturday, 02-Dec-2017 10:39:31 EST Annah @deejoe @kaniini To clarify: any account that isn't flagged as an admin or moderator can be silenced (banned), sandboxed (stricken from the timelines), or even deleted, from the web UI by a user who is marked as an administrator in GNU Social. ModPlus also adds some additional tools and makes the existing tools easier to use. That's not even getting into the handful of improvements I made in my postActiv fork. -
Annah (maiyannah@community.highlandarrow.com)'s status on Saturday, 02-Dec-2017 10:40:49 EST Annah @kaniini @deejoe The reason this reflects on Mastodon as a whole is because the instances that "act out" in this regard form a monoculture that is the prevailing, majority culture in the Mastodon part of the network (if you disregard the Pawoo fork and its users). It's not even inaccurate, but generalizations always catch up the exceptions and minorities in them. -

Joe Looks to me like a lot of people along either side of the safe-vs-free axis are pretty invested in perpetuating that axis, or where one stands along it, as a distinguishing feature of their participation, very invested in an othering process and then defining oneself in opposition to that other.
