God, I didn't realize the situation for subscribing to local events on your calendar was so technologically bleak.

You're lucky to get basic Atom or RSS feeds from most places, and most of the time that's just to subscribe to posts formatted for a feed reader. Very few iCal feeds, which means I'll have to manually scrape things together over time.
