Everyone Deserves Nice ThingsThe problem with the idea of “respecting the office of President” is that it completely abstracts the thing that should be respected, which is the people, not a big desk on a plush carpet with a bald eagle on it. The office means nothing. A president should respect the people, and since they don’t? Maybe the office and the position are the problem.
