   Danke @taz für die Verwendung der richtigen Farben bei den Balken. Und das wie ich finde gelungene Widget für die gesamt europäischen Ergebnisse in denen die europäischen Parteien genannte werden und darin erst die deutschen Parteien die in den europäischen mitmachen.

   Das war generell so mein Gefühl bei dieser Wahl, da stand zwar Europa drauf aber darüber geredet wurde eher weniger.

   Vor ein paar Tagen hatte eine Boeing von Air Canada Triebwerksprobleme nach dem Abheben (mit Flammen aus dem Triebwerk). Die Kommunikation der Piloten und des Towers zeigen, dass sie die Situation immer im Griff hatten.

     Ich schaue mir immer mal wieder die Kanäle von Petter Hörnfeldt an. Er betreibt "Mentour Pilot" und "Mentour Now". Da beschäftigt er sich ja auch mit Flugunfällen. Und da sieht man, dass es nach hinten losgehen kann, wenn die Leute nicht gut ausgebildet sind oder das Crew Resource Management nicht klappt.

   Always jarring to see people from my high school days expressing themselves on Facebook in a way that indicates they have somehow gained three decades of life experience since I last saw them.

   Little girls and boys talking about their children and work and using big words. So confusing. I mean, they kind of look the same still.

    On this day 501 years ago, Gustav I was crowned King of Sweden, which is considered the starting point for the modern Swedish centralized nation-state.

    On this day 215 years ago, Sweden adopted a basic law that turned it from an absolute monarchy to a parliamentary constitutional monarchy ... again.

    Both of Sweden's democratic revolutions, in 1719 and in 1809, were brought about by disastrous losses against the Russian Tsar. Big thank yous go to Peter the Great and Alexander the Blessed!

    "I don't understand why other people don't think like me" says more about one's lack of curiosity or understanding than about the people mentioned. One doesn't have to agree with someone else to understand what underpins their diverging opinion. Worse, it may show one's assuming there's only One True Way of thinking about something which increases one's sensibility to propaganda.

    No matter what you believe in, staying curious about why other people think differently allows you to understand exactly why you disagree beyond a knee-jerk reaction and makes you more able to change your own opinions if the reasons for them change.

      @vic This mindset is independent of specific opinions and invoking it to peddle your personal grievances is exactly what I've been trying to warn about in my post.

      In particular, branding anything as "evil" directly falls in the "One True Way" pitfall by preemptively forbidding any understanding of any kind. Again, you don't have to agree to understand.

    The internet told me you can propagate tomato plants by pruning off a stem, stripping most of the leaves, and burying it as deeply as possible in soil. They will develop roots all along the stem and turn into full-fledged plants. I tried this, and for the first week they were alive but very droopy and sad looking, but as of yesterday they're standing up tall and look like they've grown a bit. I guess it works?
