   Swedish under-the-lip snuff ("snus", /snoos/) goes under Hong Kong's "smokeless tobacco" law and is illegal to import, sell or possess for the purpose of selling or otherwise delivering.

   According to importers of Swedish goods, this extends to snus-like products that don't even contain tobacco. Like, there are mint-flavored packs you can put under your lip. But, tobaccoless smokeless tobacco products? How does the scope of this law even work?

   I don't use snus myself, I just read Swedish Hong Kong groups and stumbled over this and it boggles me.

   Does tobaccoless snus still have nicotine? I don't even know. If it does, I guess that's how it'd be in scope.

   I've lived in this building for real for less than a week.

   I got in the lift, and one of the staff got in before me. He pushed the button for the floor he was going, then saw me and nodded and promptly pushed the button for my floor.

   Maybe the newest mover is easy to remember, but I'm still impressed.

      Ich war ja nicht bei der Verhandlung dabei und ich weiß nicht, ob Details darüber verbreitet werden. Laut den Anwesenden ging es bei der Verhandlung um die rechtlichen Aspekte und der Gesprächslevel war auch auf dieser Ebene. Von den Erzählungen her hatte ich nicht den Eindruck, dass es irgendein "Gemauschel" gegeben hat. Ich weiß, dass sich unser Verhandlungsteam massiv vorbereitet hatte und auch einen absoluten Experten für Handball-Recht dabei hatte.

      Augenscheinlich gab es in der Verhandlung Zweifel an der Grundlage der Entscheidung der Lizenzkommission.

    The "Hong Kong 47", a group of politicians who have been charged under the National Security Law for their political plans and actions back in 2019, have received their verdicts. From what I can tell, the charge is "subversion". Their illegal actions were to ... *checks notes* ... try to win an election and then ... engage in politics. Truly heinous crimes.

    Out of 47 charged, 31 pleaded guilty, 14 were found guilty and 2 were acquitted. The government is planning to appeal the two acquittals.

      We Swedes in Hong Kong still have two days to vote, Swedes in Shanghai had their last chance to vote at their consulate today, but they can still vote by mail, as long as their vote arrives in Sweden in time before the vote next week.
