Wow. There is so much confusion on the carbon tax in #Canada.

Poll shows around 80% of Canadians believed they were paying more for fuel and products due to the carbon tax, in a survey taken two weeks before the tax was implemented. 🙃

I honestly can't believe how hard it is to convince people to quit Twitter when they're only a source of evil.

Right now, neo-nazis have gamed their complaint system to block a ton of progressive accounts on the even of a divisive and critical provincial election in Alberta.

and of course there's no way for their incredibly shitty appeal system to do anything about it in time.

Canada is warming twice as fast as the global average, most notably in the prairies and BC. Both the Conservative opposition and the media seem content to make sure this is not the major issue heading into the federal election later this year.

I'm not sure I buy the notion that the federal NDP are on life support, but this is an interesting analysis.

I think the NDP is set to lose a lot of their gains in Quebec (more than they did last time, I mean), and I would't be entirely surprised if the Greens pick up some votes, and maybe even a seat or two, in that province.

"It may be the goal of liberal centrism to always flow with the power, reforming laws and institutions to meet its needs. But surely the labour movement was created to change the currents of power, not play in them. Whether, in the year leading to an election, the labour movement can effect that change is not clear. But the reason change is needed certainly is."

Holy shit. I did not expect this. It's almost certainly blown whatever small chance the NDP had of being re-elected. Probably, though, it's for the best in the long term. Regardless of environmental impacts, First Nations need to be *meaningfully* consulted, particular in BC where there are no treaties and everything is on unceded land.
