The #Debian tartan is currently not sold anywhere and must be made to custom order. If you'd like a piece of the tartan, or even a full #kilt, there is now the possibility to register your interest by entering your name and contact info into this pad: https://pad.stratum0.org/p/debian_tartan
It gets a lot cheaper when more people join!

For more info about the tartan design in general, see https://wiki.debian.org/Tartan and https://www.tartanregister.gov.uk/tartanDetails?ref=5936

After a lot of mucking around I got the laptop looking ok. The conky config says its #Arch but it's really #Debian.

Installing #debian on a laptop that needs non-free firmware for the wifi to work, is there anything more frustrating?

It's pretty bad if a Debian user of over 20 years still struggles with this process, find the firmware its right there dammit.

!TIL: You can of course use nginx 1.14 from #Debian but you will still have no TLSv1.3 because of OpenSSL: https://blobfolio.com/2018/07/enable-tls-1-3-in-nginx-on-debian-stretch/ (or you make your own build, and I even could, but … no, I don't want to.)

This is so #Debian. A small typo here is telling me to use the old and unmaintained version of the software. I wasn't sure if that was a typo or if they really thought I should use the old software. I had to ask.

"In contrast to KeePassXC (package keepassxc), the development pace of KeePassX has slowed down. It has less features, and uses an outdated version of the Qt widget. If you do not know whether you should install keepassx or keepassxc, install keepassx instead!"

I have now use the #debian system package for libjs-underscore rather than the one shipped with #WordPress. For once, the Debian version is newer but linking it didn't seem to give any errors on a browser console. It also meant I had to update my #apparmor profile for wordpress.

Per suggestion of a friend, I installed his #Debian package called Dbus Broker into a machine running Bullseye, for improved perrformance, especially re: orca and web browsers. He also included a new build of atspi2-core, with dbus broker support. Indications are that the dbus broker service is running, and communication between atspi2-core and the broker are happening. I notice no performance changes, yet. More testing needs be done.

I made it to position 1 on the time scoreboard, and position 1 on the points scoreboard, my total time was 7 minutes and 49 seconds! I scored 928358 points, jumped 32 pits, ducked 31 stalactites, and collected 236 coins! I ended my adventure at the bottom of a pit! This on the probook I call BigGuy. He's running #Debian Bullseye, with latest updates, as of 5 PM today (EDT).

I had to use a usb headset, to get an eyes-free install of #Debian Bullseye onto my Probook. The sound on the installer medium did not work, otherwise. Now that the install is done, sound is fine. That is, I can use any headset or the machine's own speakers for normal use.

I just updated the thinkpad's #Debian from #Buster to #Testing without apparent mishap. #GNU #Linux Safe to do same on probook? Maybe that one should be a clean install of Testing, since it was an in-place upgrade from Stretch to Buster, and there may be cruft from Stretch, as it is.

Most of my Debian Stretch servers are now upgraded to Debian Buster πŸ™‚

It worked like a charm on most machines. I had to take manual action just twice, when there were problems with PostgreSQL (ver. 9.6 => 11) and zfs-dkms.

    Are you using Let's Encrypt?

If so you might be interested in acme-tiny. It is a 200 lines of code client to handle the installation and renewal of your LE SSL certs.

There is a one-time requirement to convert the account_key from JWK to PEM. After that everything can be automated through scripts & cron.

I like that acme-tiny is: standalone, small & so easy to review. Installable via Pip, apt-get and probably other package managers.
