Unlike mastodon you can reliably use SRV #DNS records so the #xmpp server doesn't need to be on the same host, which for me is great

So, #quad9 is a #DNS provider with a memorable address, 9.9.9.9, much like one you probably already know and love. But it returns an error for known #malware domains, and has a no-IP-logging privacy policy. It's a nonprofit initially funded mostly with $25M in cash seized from online fraudsters and the like by law enforcement.
I ... kinda trust the cops more than I trust $GOOG for my DNS, at this point, and considerably more than Comcast...
