My dream is to use only one foss and decentralized messenger for everything. With @matrix this seems possible now.
I'm currently chatting with people on:
#Matrix
#Telegram
#XMPP
#IRC
#WhatsApp
and I'm using only FluffyChat. Not everything is working 100% fine and there is still a lot of work to do. That's why I'm still using Telegram on my phone too.
What I would like to have:
-WhatsApp bridge without the need of an extra device
-XMPP&Telegram direct chats
-SMS bridge
Also found out in the #irc for #libreplanet http://vcfed.org/wp/2019/02/08/ken-thompson-to-speak-vcf-east/ !
@dwaltiz I think #Matrix in general is being used less except for some large special-interest rooms and some rooms about specific Matrix server or client software.
The other thing that Matrix is good for, accessing #IRC via the Matrix-IRC bridge, is hampered by the bridge failing to complete login when it reconnects.

@jgmac1106 to be fair, those 10 websites spread the most "fake news" because they are largest hosts of user-generated content. If all the users of those 10 websites moved to the #fediverse, then that would become the largest online source of "fake news". It's worth remembering that long before the web #BBS, #UseNet, and #IRC communities were sources of "fake news", and before the net, it came from tabloids, fringe magazines (like #Nexus), zines, samizdat pamphlets, and so on. It's not new.
#WTF #WordPress! Requiring free code developers to use #Slack to contribute to your code, and making end users use #IRC for support? You've got this exactly backwards:

@aran #Riot is a powerful client, and more user-friendly than most #IRC clients, but only just. I still find it confusing and overwhelming myself, and I certainly wouldn't recommend it to a "non-technical user", which is the target audience for @switchingsocial
"twenty years from now, kids listening to "Baby it's cold outside" are gonna find it really, really weird. We're gonna have to explain that it has to be understood in the context of its time.
"You see, it used to get cold outside."

#feneas
channel. It is bridged to our main chat on #Matrix side (#feneas:feneas.org).#sdaps_web seems to be "ready" for #python #webframework #django 2.1 . And this is just the start! We want to do #testing and create a really nice #userinterface https://github.com/sdaps/sdaps_web If you're interested, join us in the #irc channel that's also bridged to #matrix https://sdaps.org
