If you're using Mastodon on a computer, did you know you can drag and drop files to attach them?
Start writing the toot, then drag a file into the box to attach it.

@desvox I honestly think whomever is running the #Twitter account for #Mastodon is going to drive more people away than they attract. They’re really bad at it.
Bruh if you're on the fediverse turn up
So #Mastodon has announced they are in the process of removing #OStatus support their codebase. Hopefully this will light a fire under the collective arse of whoever is managing the #GNUsocial project, and the dozen or so #fediverse instances still running it, and get #ActivityPub support finished and merged.
If you want to view your #Mastodon archive, there are a few tools:
- A python script that produces a web page with all your posts, with media.
https://github.com/dizzy-labs/mastodon-archive-viewer
- A JavaScript-based HTML page that lets you load the JSON files and shows you some nice stats about your posts, as well as a timeline, but without media
Does someone knows a tool which automatically re-toot posts from a specific user depending on hash tags? #Mastodon #nf
Welcome to #mastodon v2.9.2 where 3250 members have generated 210492 statuses of content that we do not own nor monetize. #fediverse
I wrote a small blog post on #Mastodon and Nazis
Published on my own blog: https://blogghoran.se/2019/07/12/on-mastodon-and-nazis/
As well as medium:

Physical (de)centralization of Mastodon servers – after our XMPP scan, we took 1000+ random Mastodon servers and looked at their hosters:
https://gist.github.com/infosec-handbook/0cdb8da86cfe63be657fcf44bde291d1
– about 50% of these servers are hosted by only 5 companies in 4 countries
– 26% of servers are hosted in Japan, followed by the USA (24%) and France (23%)

#Sengi 0.12.0 is out!
Please find it on the project page or on #snap!
https://nicolasconstant.github.io/sengi/
This release brings the context-menu with all the related functionalities: mute/block/pin status/delete/etc.
Pleroma users should also have a much nicer experience!
You can view all of a person's posts filtered by hashtag by adding "/tagged/" to the end of their public profile address, then adding the hashtag.
For example, here is a link to all of switching.social's posts tagged #MastoTips:
https://mastodon.at/@switchingsocial/tagged/mastotips
This can be very useful for artists wanting to link to a portfolio, or writers wanting to link to articles about a topic.
You can also add these to your public profile page by going to Preferences > Edit Profile > Featured Hashtags
I love it when the people with whom I share mutual followships port their #Mastodon accounts properly. I don't feel slighted when they go to another instance and add people based on their memory.

#RIP #toodon any recommendations for #mastodon #app
So I've been testing having personal/private accounts on mastodon to connect with close friends and family, and discovered something that could be improved.
The privacy options are disorganized. The ability to lock an account, Opt-out of search engine indexing, hide your network, changing default toot privacy, and making your profile visible in profile directory, should all be together under a privacy section. #privacy #mastodon
I remember seeing a section under this name previously.
