How to migrate from one Mastodon server to another without losing followers:

1. Sign up on new server
2. On NEW server: Go to Account -> Moving FROM another account
3. Enter old account's handle
4. On OLD server: Go to Account -> Moving TO another account
5. Enter new account's handle and submit

And many others, and still be able to talk to the world / follow your friends on mastodon.social and vice versa.

According to the-federation.info the #fediverse has crossed 3 million registered users (and this is excluding Gab)

If an old account is compromised (using passwords from breaches from other sites) and used for spam, our moderation team notifies the owner and disables the account. Visually the account is still there but it's not functional. Please do not mistake that as us not dealing with spammers.

A while ago I shared a link to that old article about how someone hijacked the author's Twitter username, and one thing mentioned in the article was how the author was constantly getting bombarded with password reset e-mails. That kind of reinforces my opinion that Mastodon shouldn't allow login-by-username and stick to login-by-email only.
