Recently I read often that #copyleft is so bad, that nobody want to use it. I think this depends on the definition of use. People who are looking for some free beer to build their own proprietary stuff might feel sad because they can't (ab)use copyleft software. End users couldn't care less. People who want to get engaged typically like copyleft because it creates a level playing field, nobody have to fear that a competitor will take their investment and run away. #FreeSoftware#OpenSource
What are #RattlesnakeOS or #eelo#eOS going to achieve that #LineageOS hasn't? Isn't this just an example of fragmentation in #openSource projects? If the developers of the first two have some kind of idea they want to implement, surely joining forces with the already successful LOS team makes the most sense? Choice is great is it sensible to so things like this?
I'm genuinely interested, not trying to stir up trouble for them. 😁
"Thought: An #OpenSource evangelist that uses a Mac (or Keynote, PowerPoint, Slack, GitHub, etc.) is like someone who promotes veganism, while only avoiding meat in public."
That's the #pragmatic view to just being made out-of-date by: "I just search for some alternatives being free from any ideology and political view. I use what I want!" #Discussion #Interested
Mixxx is a professional class free & open-source software for DJ'ing on Linux!

As always, it is our task to take all that was beautiful, kind, and meaningful about him and weave it into the tapestry of our futures in such a manner to honor him and give added meaning to our lives.
Such is the nature of life, love, death, and life after loss.
Huh. The #freemium service that I use for #RSS (for free) is embedding ads when syncing with the service thru third-party apps. I'm kinda impressed. [The service is #Inoreader.]
The service is a bit too generic for me to feel compelled to pay for it, so I hope that my ad views and clicks may float their boats in the meantime. [This is a preview of my thought that tech funding, especially #openSource funding, can fail merely because a necessary degree of artfulness of the tech is lacking.]
It is the morning of #PodcrawlGlasgow. I'm going to meet up with Andrew Gregory (formerly of Linux Format and Linux Voice) , Dave @thelovebug and Caroline @moosical Lee (the Bugcast crew), Dave Morris @perloid loid (regular Hacker Public Radio host) and Beni (@navigium, Swiss #opensource and #Linux enthusiast) in the Beer Cafe in Candleriggs, #Glasgow today at 2.30pm if anybody is nearby. The actual Podcrawl starts in the State Bar, Holland Street, Glasgow, at 6pm
Net-snmp has a new version out so this weekend I'll be getting the new #debian packages ready for it. Looks like the openssl API problem is fixed and a bunch of patches also won't be needed.
I've decided I'll use the same workflow for patches as the other packages I maintain. I hate patch-queue or I'm too stubborn to learn a different way
