Ironically, I now have a friend who is a legit ninja and it's not a secret at all. As far as I know, he's never used a tshirt to make a ninja mask which, honestly, is a little disappointing.
Remeber that website REAL ULTIMATE POWER that was about ninjas and included tips about how to turn a tshirt into a ninja mask? I'm pretty sure I went to junior high with one of the guys involved in it, but I never asked him for fear that he truly was an elite ninja.
Our friend who had cancer is cancer-free again (for the second time)! 🙌 Hopefully, he doesn't – is relapse the right word? – again. I'd prefer he not die in his 40s. His wife and kid would also prefer that.

@allan@mpjgregoire This also assumes a quasi-global carbon tax is the best and/or only option. I know a lot of economists support it, but I also seem to recall that it'd need to be at a rate of something like $200/ton to actually make a meaningful impact.
@mpjgregoire@allan I've had discussions on here before about some kind of "climate tariff," wherein countries apply a tariff to goods from countries that don't have a carbon tax, but I don't know how realistic that is, given that it would probably violate most existing trade agreements. It could be included in future agreements, and if adopted by a big market like the EU, could make a difference, but it might come too late, only as existing agreements come up for renegotiation years from now.
@allan@mpjgregoire Realistically, we need a global solution, but good luck trying to get 195 states to all agree to a unified solution when some of them can't even get internal agreement among their regions (e.g., Canada and our provinces).
@benhamill@grufwub My first thought was that it's the first one, because the tie goes at the base of your neck, not just under your chin. But...you're right. Where does the collar fall on a brachiosaurus' neck?
Super cool how wildfire season has started earlier than ever and the provincial government's first order of business is still to scrap the previous government's climate leadership plan. Also super cool how we live in an era in which successive governments seem to spend their first few months or years undoing everything the previous government did, as if that's a recipe for stability (not to say nothing should even be undone, of course, but this seems to be a new and worrisome trend).
@freakazoid Yeah, most of my mutes are intended to be permanent. But once in a while I'll mute someone temporarily for a number of reasons (I once had to mute someone for a day or two while they were testing out some new software they were working on, because their test posts were spamming my home timeline, for example).
I'm bad about checking, though, so sometimes they'll be muted for why longer than intended.
