Non-Authoritative Information (benhamill@cybre.space)'s status on Thursday, 29-Aug-2019 09:05:00 EDT Non-Authoritative Information I've talked before about how telling kids about queerness of whatever flavor is not at all a big deal. That to some adults, these things feel mind blowing and like they're upsetting something about the world they thought was a constant. But for kids, it's just yet another thing they didn't know about. Which is a vast majority of things, for kids. So it's not a big deal to discover one more.
Knowing this, my friend told me this great story:

Now that I've realized that "ace" implies that "ce" is an abbreviation for "sexual", I'll be wondering why people are horny for every software package with a community edition. 🤦🏻♂️

We explained trans-ness to our kids and plenty of other things to our kids. They're mostly like, "Oh. OK." Kids already don't understand a lot about their worlds. Telling them that gender is more complicated than "boy" and "girl" isn't going to be some giant shock of something they've thought was a universal truth. They are constantly having shit they thought they understood overturned. Often without even being explicitly taught something. It's a lot of what being a kid is.

For a while I was saying "bits and bytes, nibbles and naughts". But that's long and fewer people are aware of "nibble" as a computer term. So now I'm straight from Shakeapeare: "gentles all".

Anyway, yeah. The thing that's grossest about it is how passive it is. You can franchise a self-storage place and do basically nothing and just skim that profit off of the high housing costs of your city. And if, like here, you build it in a place where land values are mid-high and only getting higher, when you're done in a decade, the demo is cheap and you make a killing on the land sale.
