@AppleStrudelMan Yeah, I rarely buy doughnuts since they switched to the parbake method. Luckily, we have a lot of good doughnut shops here. Some are overpriced "fancy" doughnut places, but there are some classic places that are better and less expensive. I'm lucky to live pretty close to one of them.
@Fralambert@erinbee A few months ago, I went to a restaurant that focuses exclusively on Canadian cuisine. There was a starter or amuse bouche or something that was called a "deconstructed poutine" or something like that. My wife and I were both confused as to how this was supposed to resemble poutine in any way, until we learned about the Acadian dish.
They only have Beyond Meat burgers, and I do like those, but something about Tim's selling burgers just seems wrong. Of course, very few of their recent menu changes have made much sense.
@sikkdays Yeah, I feel weird about it, mostly because he wasn't up front about it. It's all posted on his personal account, so it's not obvious until I looked up the address (and noticed he had pictures of others items for sale on commercial shelving).
So apparently this thing I found on FB marketplace is actually just a pawnshop that lists their items on FB to increase sales, not some dude selling an instrument, which I kind of feel weird about.
Here I am arranging a specific meeting time like a chump, because I thought I was going to somebody's house to look and possibly buy this strumstick.
every time I hear trotskyism explained, it doesn't sound too bad. I agree with all of it that I feel I understand. But every time I hear about people or orgs that are trotskyist, they are wieners. I don't know why this is.
I can relate so much to this, particularly this quote: "I am also deeply conflicted about raising middle-class kids whose life is so different from my own growing up."
@RussSharek I originally thought, "I can barely play the guitar I own, why would I want to make one?" But now I get the appeal. Alas, it looks like the workshop is sold out. π
@RussSharek At first I thought it sounded neat, but I can barely play guitar as it is, so why make one? But now that I've learned a bit more about it, maybe it's worthwhile.
@RussSharek Although, I'm going to a bluegrass festival in a couple weeks and they have a cigar box guitar workshop, which I think includes all the materials (it's an extra fee beyond my festival ticket, but now I'm thinking about it).
