mastodon also does not have plush blue elephants for sale, but we can forgive them because they are non-commercial. and besides, the Free Market has you covered.

the real flaw with gab is that they don't have frog plushies as merch, and that's the real reason we blocked them -

@marcus
Content does not automatically federate to instances. It does not matter if you run Mastodon or Pleroma or GNU Social or Friendica. You have to establish connections (following or relay) to instances to get their content flowing in.In conversation from pleroma.site permalink -

you can do a lot of other things, too.

to block instances, you have to configure MRF, which is the Pleroma filtering framework.
as a start, to block Gab, put this in your config file:
config :pleroma, :instance, rewrite_policy: [Pleroma.Web.ActivityPub.MRF.SimplePolicy]config :pleroma, :mrf_simple, reject: ["gab.com", "gab.ai", "develop.gab.com"]

thanks to Jose Valim and the rest of the crew at Plataformatec who have given us a lot of help and guidance when we've run into technical issues that we didn't know how to handle. being able to tag bugs with @plataformatec and get real answers has been a game changer for us.
thanks to @feld for seeing the big picture with what we are trying to accomplish and coordinating all of the crap the rest of us don't want to coordinate. it's a thankless job, and honestly, he's pretty good at it.In conversation from pleroma.site permalink -
