https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bloom%27s_2_sigma_problem
Bloom found that the average student tutored one-to-one using mastery learning techniques performed two standard deviations better than students who learn via conventional instructional methods[1]—that is, "the average tutored student was above 98% of the students in the control class".[1]:4 Additionally, the variation of the students' achievement changed: "about 90% of the tutored students ... attained the level of summative achievement reached by only the highest 20%" of the control class.
REMINDER: If you don't take advantage of tutoring in college, you're a fucking idiot. -

@Frinkeldoodle @BestGirlGrace @hierarchon
i honestly don't know. i was polite, but firm about it. he probably did not like that we intend to assert control over what derivative rebuilds may be called Pleroma.
but this is typical for projects working on software like this.
mozilla would not appreciate some packaging called "firefox" that could only visit a specific set of domains, for example, no matter what the justification is.
Gargron would not appreciate some packaging of Mastodon that changed the character count or added rich text
I see no reason why we should thank freedombone for shipping a completely broken package of Pleroma that does not work as expected -

(and to be clear, if they are going to ship something that deviates so much from stock, we are perfectly content with them dropping Pleroma.) -

i mean, my basic point is that a software packaging should not deviate from what the software normally does.
but freedombone dropped Pleroma, so. -

yeah, freedombone ships Pleroma, but they have modified the default configuration so extensively I literally requested they stop calling it Pleroma -

whitelisting and greylisting are a conversation worth having, but there's a lot of aspects we need to work through, both on the technology side, as well as the workflow side.
it's not so simple.
and, of course, freedombone shipping the maintainer's personal whitelist as a default is just not cool at all. -

@aussocialadmin note that the mastodon relay software is only compatible with mastodon. if you use https://git.pleroma.social/pleroma/relay, that implementation is compatible with the entire fediverse. In conversation from pleroma.site permalink Attachments

ah. we have plans for this, but it's unrelated to filtering.
the idea is to have neighbourhoods which can share settings and content, as well as am additional shared neighbourhood timeline in the web interface. In conversation from pleroma.site permalink -

actually, i was on the fence, as the description of the gab CTO's behaviour could be quite distressing for some. but ultimately, it seemed mild enough to not warrant attaching a subject to the post.
and i guess in fairness when i shared the screencap of that particular post, i did mark it as sensitive media. so i probably should have attached a subject here as well.In conversation from pleroma.site permalink -

as for collaborative moderation, it's a conversation worth having but we need to be very careful with how features like that are designed. it's very possible for these kinds of systems to be gamed by assholes to punish people who don't deserve it.In conversation from pleroma.site permalink -
