@PhilthePill it's not "master" because it requires the instance owner to register the instance. There could be plenty of really small (likely 1-5 user instances) that aren't registered

@mwlucas 100% this happens. But all good social spaces rely on good moderation. The thing that I believe Mastodon brings to the table that other social spaces don't is that decentralization. With Twitter/Facebook/etc., if you are unhappy with the moderation, your avenues of recourse are either through the moderators who have already failed you or abandoning the space altogether. With decentralization, you have many more options while still maintaining access to the space.
