Twitter is a set of algos. Nothing special other than that. They can function in their safety mode just fine with federation and vice versa.

@commandlinekid @tmy I see zero reason to do this. Who gives a shit? They are either here or they aren't. I like the occasional bot to get tweets from a few people, but otherwise I miss nothing. Same stuff is available here.

Anyone can join the fediverse, with a new server or an existing service. @gab really blazed a trail.
