I think I successfully submitted a talk (two actually) to #ActivityPubConf!
I'm looking at how to fund my own travel and lodging. Let me know if you want to help me!
Tusky and Florence doesn't really have enough funds yet to pay for the whole thing, but you can view it as a contribution to those projects by proxy if you like.

Hey fediverse, I'm going to try to get my brother to join (Mastodon, Pleroma, other....). He would particularly like to discuss #ScienceFiction with other fans. Also #HPLovecraft. Are there instances that would make it particularly easy for him to find other fans? Thanks in advance!
Hey everyone! I've got a new account on my instance https://social.libre.fi. New account is @brainblasted. I will probably be moving there since it is my own instance.

@Laurelai Communication is a major issue for me. Currently from what I know, Mastodon uses a Discord guild to handle chat within the development community, with Patrons getting access. Closing off valuable chat channels to people who pay rubs me the wrong way, and it is especially frustrating that communication is done on a closed, centralized platform. I would hope a fork used something like (preferably) Matrix or IRC, maybe even Mattermost.
So, Matrix is dying. The server is too heavy to run, the protocol is mismanaged , and two of the biggest homeservers (tchncs and weho.st) have closed registrations. Another, disroot, is considering shutting down their HS. At this point, an alternative needs to show up, and soon.
Personally, I disagree with this idea. I prefer to have one app to map with each service. Splitting the applications instead of thinking through a proper design to solve these issues does not seem like the right solution to me. I would like to know what other users think regarding this, and how it would affect their use cases.
