It seems the best way to search for nuget packages with proper filtering and such is to use Powershell. That's kinda cool and sad at the same time. -

It's interesting how with all the advancements in programming language so few people have bothered to even try to search for new patterns or improved approaches that are enabled by them rather than regurgitating the gang of four. -

@maiyannah Not the functional programming I know. In Haskell you'd return an abstract data type with more info. Also I think VBA lacks higher order functions but has classes. In conversation from community.highlandarrow.com permalink -

Ok, so you can't do Python scripting in LibreOffice without a JRE. Uh, what? Ever heard of CPython? In conversation from community.highlandarrow.com permalink -

@purplehippo So that's the backstory of Doom: a man cleaning up after the women make a mess of things. (*ducks*) In conversation from community.highlandarrow.com permalink -

@maiyannah Dunno what time your experience comes from but I've found modern MS .NET stuff (.NET Core, PowerShell, Visual Studio) to be pretty decent. VBA on the other hand still doesn't have a good way to communicate the reason for failures (i.e. you get an error code, not a structured exception). I mean, if VBA was based on VB.NET you'd have a point, it would just be a nonstandard syntax but VBA is really old school VB and that's a higher degree of suck than modern MS tooling. So there's a rumour that MS is considering adding Python as a scripting language to Excel. All I can say is, it would be a definite improvement. I'd still not use Excel much but it's nice to have a sane scripting language when you're trying to help someone else out. In conversation from community.highlandarrow.com permalink -

@maiyannah Considering your opinion is likely based on actually playing the game and not quitting after the first bit of difficulty it's bound to be great by comparison (to big site game reviewers). ;) In conversation from community.highlandarrow.com permalink -

There's something to be said for .NET. If you need to do something overcomplicated and mildly insane like signing XML elements it's right there in the base lib. In conversation from community.highlandarrow.com permalink -

@maiyannah I'm still waiting for them to give up the charade about Mozilla being independent and merging it into Google proper. I mean, it's not like they whole world doesn't know where Mozilla gets its money from. In conversation from community.highlandarrow.com permalink
